Diploma of Anesthesia is a two-year postgraduate Anesthesia programme. Anesthesiology DNB program provides integrated training in all areas of
Anesthesia and critical care. Under this degree, students learn about areas such as ambulatory anesthesia, cardiothoracic anesthesiology, pediatric anesthesiology neuroanesthesia, obstetrical anesthesiologY and pain management. Anesthesia controls pain during surgery or other medical procedųres. It includes using medicines, and sometimes closes monitoring, to keep you comfortable. It can also help control breathing, blood pressure, blood flow, and heart rate and rhythm. when needed. Some of the types of Anesthesia are local anesthesia, regional anesthesia and general anesthesia.

Objectives of the programme:

Kerudi Hospital in the year 1988 started General surgery. Obstetric & Gynaecological services in a rented building with 20 beds. In the year 1994 the hospital shifted to a new spacious premise. With 50 beds the hospital provided Surgical, Medical, Obstetric & Gynaecological services. Since then the hospital has consistently kept pace with the developments in medical arena. Over the years new specialities were added, facilities were upgraded and Hi-Technology machines were introduced. Scan & Diagnostic Centre opened in the year 2000 with a view to provide accurate, fast and complete range of investigations.

Scope of the Course:

DA student after obtaining diploma should be able to acquire optimal theoretical knowledge and understanding of the basic anatomical phsiological, physical and pharmacological principals involved in the practice of safe anesthesia, ICU care and chronic pain management etc.

  • Examine, evaluate, and optimize the patient for Anaesthesia for
    the proposed surgery.
  • Identify the Anaesthetic problems that require special attention, skill and equipments.
  • Should know the handling of various noninvasive and invasive monitoring equipments and their date interpretations.
  • Should possess the knowledge of all Anaesthetic equipments, drugs, and their appropriate uses.
  • Acquire skills and proficiency for the conduct of safe Anaesthesia for elective and emergency procedures.
  • Diagnose emergency medical/surgical conditions and institute emergency treatment and administer Anaesthesia, if required.
  • Manage trauma and mass casualties.
  • Manage acute pain.
  • Resuscitate and manage critically ill in ICU and postoperative care unit.
  • Manage palliative care of terminally ill patients.
  • Communicate with patients and relatives, regarding prognosis and possible complications.
  • Discharge medico-legal and ethical responsibilities.
  • Plan, conduct and write the results of the research in speciality, as well as present the same in scientific forum and journals.
  • Teach and train undergraduate medical students, nursing students, paramedical and other health professionals.
  • Ensure patient safety.
  • Perform and demonstrate the technical skills mentioned in the
    course content.
What are the admission requirements for the program:

Candidates should have successfully completed MBBS, recognized by MCI and completed one year of Internship. Candidates interested in PG Courses (including) Secondary should have appeared in the NEET exam of NBE, conducted recently.
